300 students to be selected from 20 participating schools
TEDxYouthDay is a series of TEDx events happening all around the world on November 20, Universal Children’s Day. These events are designed to empower and inspire young people.
On November 20, 2011 — Universal Children’s Day — TEDx organizers across the globe will host events for (and by) young people. These events will vary widely in size, format and theme, but they will share a common vision: inspiring curiosity, igniting new ideas, empowering young leaders. TEDxYouthDay 2011 will be held on November 20th.

The theme for TEDxYouthDay 2011 is Play, Learn, Build & Share, chosen by the TEDx community. Individual TEDxYouthDay events will feature their own unique themes, but “Play, Learn, Build & Share” has the potential to bring to light creative ways to unite the 2011 TEDxYouthDay events around the world.

The TEDxYouth@SanDiego team is honored to welcome students from twenty San Diego County high schools to participate in this global event. It should be a transformative day for all of our student attendees. To see the kind of impact we hope to make please watch our short video at www.tedxyouthday.com.

The theme of TEDxYouth@SanDiego is "The World in Our Grasp," and it is all about inspiring one to see a problem, to take responsibility and to do something now.

  • We are paying it forward. This event is not just about Canyon Crest Academy‚ it's about others. Next fall we will be bringing a community of 400 students together from all over San Diego County to challenge them, inspire them, and motivate them to be agents of change.
  • This is NOT just a conference or an inspirational day of talks. Student participants will be asked to make commitments to take action within their community by the end of the day, and we will follow-through on those commitments by reconnecting with our student-attendees throughout the year to ensure they are progressing with their promises.
  • TEDxYouth is solution-oriented. The attendees will be given specific ways in which they can become involved no matter what their resources and where they are located. We want them to make promises they can keep, and we will help them succeed by reconnecting them with their peers and mentors throughout the year, so their plans are put into action.
